Butterfly Cookies

These were lots of fun!
These cookies were supposed to be for a baby shower, but they decided they wanted cupcakes instead. (Butterfly Cupcakes coming soon!), So I decided to make these cookies anyway. I love Butterflies!
I started with a few sketches just to get an idea of how I wanted the butterflies to look. This is one of my favorite parts.

So here is the finished product all ready to be gifted. Thanks to my friend Jen who helped entertain the girls while I made the cookies. Sorry no pictures of the cut out process, batteries in my camera died. FYI these cookies are actually purple but they shower up blue instead.

Hope you like these designer cookies please leave your feedback or subscribe to my blog for lots more sweets. These and any other shape cookie, or Cake Pop are available for order, and can be delivered to you by mail.

Spring is Here...according to me!!

So I've decided the winter is over and it's time to start getting ready for warm weather. I thought these sweet spring mini cucpcakes would do the trick and set the mood! Yeah Spring!!!
I just love the lovely minis, really how cute are they? Even naked, they are super cute!

This was my big Easter idea. Mini Cupcake in an easter egg...Adorable!

We should all hope to get one of these from the easter bunny!

Cupcakes in Review

These are Vanilla Cake w/ Vanilla Buttercream. A little something for spring. I made these especially for my sister who loves purple.
This is also a vanilla cake w/ vanilla buttercream. I love to make the icing look like a rose. I think i'll call this cupcake "The White Rose."
Now this is a recipe I made by chance when I was suppost to be making chocolate cupcakes but didn't have enough chocolate. So I made these Coca Cola Cupcakes which taste nothing like the drink, but are still heaven!!!

I recipe calls not just for Cola but also marshmellows, sugar and coco powder...what a combo! But they made the softest, tender rich kind of chocolate, kind of cola-ish cupcakes.

More cupcake updates coming soon.

Aneley's Pretty Cookies

Aneley made her own cookies while I made the shoe wedding favors. At first I thought she was going a little over board with the colored sugar but, they looked beautiful!
I love her smile in this picture, she was so proud of herself.
These cookies were for Grandma, Pa, and Daddy.

The more sugar the better!!

Sex and the City Themed Wedding Shower Cookie Favors

Sex and the City Themed Wedding Shower Cookie Favors
So the shower theme was Sex and the City just like the movie, and I decided to make these shoe cookies as favors. First I did some research on the internet, and picked out a few shoes that I liked. Then I sketched them into the shape of my cookie cutter which I traced an outline of.
Then I made the dough. I always prefer to use my butter cookie recipe because I want the cookies to taste really good as well as look fabulous. I like to roll my dough out in sheet trays before frefrigerating so there's less handling of the dough later.

Once the cookies are baked I used royal icing to put on the outline of the shoes. I choose a dark grey as the outline. Then I used several different colors to fill the cookies.

Notice the blue ones with the buckel, they are suppost to be the blue velvet Monolo Blahniks from the movie. They were the brides favorite. The shoes were a huge hit! Next I'm doing butterlies for a Baby Shower this weekend, stay tuned for the update.

I LOVE SHOES, SHOES, SHOES, SHOES!!!!!!

Homemade Lemon Cakesters

So I love this recipe! Using a box mix you can make the most delicious Cake-cookies ever! I'm stealing the name Cakesters because it's the best way to describe the delicious texture of the cookies.

I choose a lemon mix and made my own lemon icing from scratch (Icing recipe on the bottom). I used lemon juice, lemon zest, and lemon extract to add some different lemon notes. The result is a very refreshing, tangy, lemony sweetness, a perfect compliment to the soft, crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside Cakester.

Amaya got in on the action while I was trying to ice these puppies. She just smushed her little fingers right into the icing , and popped them into her mouth. She thinks she's helping, and she is....kind of!

The cookie batter is a roll/drop deal, so it took a little trial and error to get the dough balls just the right size so they wouldn't brown around the edges. The trick was making the balls small. A little bigger then a quarter. Still these cookies were such a prettty yellow color, perfect for easter, which gves me an idea....coming soon!

They were heaven! I ate a few with a nice tall glass of milk, organic milk of course. I knew then I'd have to send Rick to work with the rest, (prevent me from eating them all) and he called from work to say every last one was devoured! Thank goodness because I didn't want to explain to Aneley why she could eat all of them! They made my sweet child sing and danced while she ate them!
