Valentines Day is days away, and I can already imagine all of the disappointment.
The gift, you wanted but didn't get, the night in that you hoped would be spent out.
How does this all go wrong?
Are the special people in our lives stupid?
Of course not, they're just NOT mind readers.
I'm totally GUILTY of this!
I think my husband should be able to read my mind.
He asks, "what do you want to do for Valentines Day?" I answer, "I dunno, I don't care."
Then conversation ends and I start thinking of all the surprises coming my way.
I'm setting this poor guy up!
I don't wan to tell him what i want, I want him to READ MY MIND!!
The romantic evening, the quality time and special gifts. When he doesn't deliver, I'm not just disappointed.

I get PISSED!!!
I walk around snippy, and annoyed and hold grudges.
I get all worked up just because he didn't figure out what I want through mental telepathy.
Epiphany of the DAY!!
My husband is no Mind Reader!!!
But he is a great listener.
I remember this great book he and I read together along time ago.
We read The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman, and we each decided which things we needed to feel loved.
No surprise my husband likes them all!
But I'm a bit of a pickle.

The Clifnotes of it is that everyone speaks a different "love language." Their "love language," is the way that they feel and receive love. There are 5 Love Languages.
Words of Affirmation
Acts of Service
Receiving Gifts
Quality Time
Physical Touch
If he spends time with you but your mad he didn't bring you flowers, your Love Language may be Receiving Gifts.
I won't share my love language, but I can say it has changed over time.
So it's important to check back in and ask what makes someone feel loved.
There is no right or wrong language and definitely no judgement.
It simply is how you take in the love being giving to you.
Men and Women have different requirements and understanding them can help bring them closer to you.
I found this handy chart to help you relate.
I have used these 5 Love Languages with my children.
I think they are really great way to help you express your love and appreciation for the ones you love.
If you know someone loves you but you just don't feel it, try communicating which love language you speak.
It really will help because no one can read minds.
Happy Valentines
Day!
